SunPlot reviews: what others say and what you can check yourself

SunPlot creates an interactive report on sun, shadow and location for addresses across Switzerland. Here you will find feedback on the report and the key facts, so you can form your own view before ordering.

As of 1 November 2026

Feedback

Experiences with the report

The feedback mainly mentions three things: the report shows more than the sun, you can look for yourself, and it all works well. Here is a selection.

More than I expected.

Everything worked very well and quickly. I am interested in a house and wanted an assessment of the location. The report is really a full site assessment, not just a sun analysis. The price is good too.
Interested in buying a house

Far more useful than a PDF.

You can see for yourself when the sun is where. The maps of the surroundings were interesting too. At the viewing, I would not have paid attention to some of these things at all.
Report before a viewing

Very comprehensive and informative.

Worked perfectly, without errors. The report fully met my expectations. Nothing is missing. The price is right and it was worth it.

Process

How an order works

  1. Check the address

You enter the address and see before ordering which data is available there.

  2. Order

You choose the report and pay in advance with TWINT, card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

  3. Get the link

The report is created for your address. You receive the link by e-mail, usually within 24 hours.

  4. See for yourself

You choose the date and time, rotate the 3D view and save the report as a file or PDF.

The report looks best on a computer or tablet. When you open it, it loads the geodata fresh from the Confederation and from our server, which takes one to five minutes depending on your connection speed.

Good to know

What you can expect from the report

Not an expert opinion

These are calculated values and do not replace an official statement. Official shadow diagrams for a building application are prepared by specialist firms.

The possible sun

The calculation ignores cloud, so it shows the sun on a clear day, with mountains, buildings and trees.

Measuring point at the roof

Sun hours apply at the ridge, 1.5 m above it. A ground-floor balcony usually gets a little less sun.

Building data status

The data status varies by map sheet. New buildings since the survey get their height from the laser surface model.

Data per address

Solar data and cantonal hazard maps are not available everywhere. The address checker shows you this before you order.

A private offering

SunPlot has no connection with federal or cantonal authorities. The data suppliers have not checked the reports.

Check for yourself

See for yourself

The best test is a real report. The example of the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne is built just like your report after ordering.

Questions

Common questions about SunPlot

Is SunPlot legitimate?

SunPlot Switzerland is the brand of a Swiss sole proprietorship with a VAT number. Provider, address and UID are in the legal notice, the conditions in the Terms and Conditions. Payment runs through the provider Stripe, we never see your card details.

How accurate is SunPlot?

Sun hours are calculated geometrically: terrain at 50 cm resolution, buildings with roof shapes, trees from the laser point cloud, the sun’s position every 10 minutes across the whole year, including mountain shadow. The calculation ignores cloud, so it shows the possible sun on a clear day. These are calculated values and do not replace an official statement or an expert opinion. More under Data & method.

Who is a SunPlot report worth it for?

For anyone who wants to know more about an address before buying or renting: how much sun arrives over the year, how quiet it is, how well it is connected and what the official maps show. The best way to judge whether it is worth it for you is the sample report.

How quickly do I get the report?

After payment the report is created for your address and you receive the link by e-mail, usually within 24 hours. The link is valid for 6 months. Saved as a file, the report stays usable after that; when opened it loads the maps from the federal geoservices.

What happens if something is wrong?

Let us know within 14 days. We look into the case and correct it, even if only a single filter is wrong. You get a refund if a correction is not possible. The details are in section 8 of the Terms and Conditions.

Can I try SunPlot first?

Yes. The sample report is freely accessible, the app can be tried without signing up using real sample locations, and the address checker shows before ordering which data is available at your address.

Where do the reviews on this page come from?

This page comes from SunPlot itself. The feedback reached us by e-mail or in conversation. We paraphrase it without names and make a selection. Two of the three people received the report from us as a gift.
